Alessi’s Toru kettle brings a different minimalist twist to the appliance

]]>

When it comes to kitchen appliances, I’m not very particular with the design of these items, as long as they are functioning as they should. I am also not that great of a cook and kitchen user so they don’t need to be pretty or even matching since I’m just using them when I need them. But there are a lot of well-designed and well-matched appliances that you can add to your well-stocked kitchen and cooking area. Electric kettles are one of those things that I have but I don’t really think about how I’m using it, as long as it turns my water hot enough.

Designer: Nendo for Alessi

Toru is Alessi’s new collection of kitchen appliances designed by Japanese brand Nendo. The name means “through” in Japanese and the collection features black tube-like elements running through the different items. The kettle is the first item in the collection and it matches Alessi’s metalworking techniques. It looks like a typical stainless-steel pitcher but how it’s designed is what makes it a bit different than your typical water kettle. Normally, a kettle is gripped from the side but this time, this household object is turned into a symbol of art.

The Toru kettle has a top-suspended shape so you can lift it more easily from the base. You can hold the upper part of the handle and tilt the kettle to pour the water into your cup or bowl and it should pour out smoothly as you tilt it lightly. When you’re boiling the water, the base has an integrated appearance with its soft form. When you detach the kettle and ready for pouring, it takes on a straight and simple silhouette. The handle becomes a spout, softening the metallic material as water courses through it.

The Toru collection also has other kitchen appliances, including a juicer, toaster, warmer grill, toaster racks. Of course all of them have the stainless steel look that matches Alessi’s and Nendo’s aesthetics. The minimalist look can match a lot of kitchen designs, especially those that want to go for that kind of refined look that only silver appliances can give.

Ooni, the brand that built its name (and a cult following) on outdoor pizza ovens, is tossing its expertise into a different kind of dough game. The Halo Pro Spiral Dough Mixer marks the company’s first step outside the pizza oven category, but true to its roots, this new appliance is all about elevating your home baking experience. Priced at $799, the Halo Pro is a premium tool designed for those who take their bread, pizza, or pastry-making seriously—or, at the very least, want to look like they do.

For a company known for making it easier to bake Neapolitan-style pizzas in your backyard, venturing into mixers might seem like an unusual turn. But when you think about it, dough is the common denominator. Whether you’re shaping it into a pizza, a baguette, or a brioche, perfect dough is the starting point, and Ooni knows its audience well enough to recognize that. The Halo Pro hopes to revolutionize the entire mixing process, much like their ovens revolutionized home pizza-making.

Designer: Ooni

At the heart of the Halo Pro’s design is its spiral mixing action, which mimics the movements of a professional bakery mixer. This isn’t your grandmother’s stand mixer—it’s built to replicate the consistent, even kneading that professional bakers swear by. With its 4.2-liter capacity, the mixer can handle up to 3.3 pounds of dough, making it ideal for crafting everything from a single pizza to multiple loaves of sourdough bread. No matter whether you’re an amateur or consider yourself a ‘flour’ishing baker, the Halo Pro’s precision mixing promises smooth, elastic dough every time—no more tough kneads or uneven textures.

In true Ooni fashion, the Halo Pro embraces the brand’s minimalist design aesthetic. With its sleek stainless steel finish and clean lines, it’s a perfect match for Ooni’s popular line of pizza ovens. You could easily picture it sitting next to an Ooni Karu or Koda on your kitchen counter, looking like it belongs there just as much as the ovens do on a patio. There are no flashy buttons or over-complicated controls; instead, the mixer offers straightforward operation with a focus on functionality. The simplicity is intentional, aimed at reducing the barrier to entry for home bakers while still appealing to serious enthusiasts.

Aside from being sleek and powerful, the Halo Pro is also surprisingly practical. Ooni has engineered the mixer for convenience, equipping it with a removable stainless steel bowl for easy cleaning and a clear viewing panel on top so you can monitor your dough’s progress without interrupting the process. You even get multiple dough hook attachments, for kneading, mixing, or whisking. Add to that a relatively compact footprint, and you’ve got a mixer that fits seamlessly into your kitchen setup, even if counter space is at a premium.

Now, about that price tag. At $799, the Halo Pro isn’t exactly an impulse buy—it costs a lot of dough to, well, handle dough. But that price reflects its focus on quality and performance, putting it in line with other premium kitchen appliances targeted at serious home cooks. For comparison, the gold standard of stand mixers, the KitchenAid Professional series, comes in at a slightly lower price point but lacks the specialized spiral mixing action that sets the Halo Pro apart.

It’s also worth noting that the Halo Pro is clearly aimed at Ooni’s core audience of pizza aficionados and baking enthusiasts who already understand the value of investing in high-end tools. This isn’t about selling to the average casual baker; it’s about catering to the growing segment of home chefs who are ready to level up their game. Ooni’s decision to branch into mixers feels like a natural extension of its brand, providing another way to perfect the dough that’s at the heart of every good pizza—and plenty of other baked goods too.

The Halo Pro Spiral Dough Mixer is available now via Ooni’s website and select retailers. If you’re ready to knead like a pro (and don’t mind spending a bit more to do it), this could be the tool to transform your baking. It’s a bold first step for Ooni outside its pizza oven comfort zone, and while it remains to be seen how far the company will expand its product lineup, one thing’s for sure: Ooni’s products definitely belong to the ‘upper crust’!

AI-powered self-watering indoor planter makes growing greens all too easy

]]>

Let’s face it: many of us would want to grow our own flowers and herbs but are afraid to do so because we don’t have a green thumb. In fact, some might even have the opposite of a green thumb, seemingly cursed to kill any vegetative life they handle. Of course, it’s really just a matter of knowing the right thing to do at the right time, which is harder to accomplish when plants only show visible signs when they’re almost dead.

That’s where everyone’s favorite AI comes in, taking the guesswork out of the equation. That’s the value that this deceptively plain and simple plastic pot tries to bring, making the act of growing indoor plants so easy, that you might even feel you’re not the one doing the work at all.

Designer: LeafyPod

Most of us were probably taught as early as grade school that plants need soil, water, and sunlight to grow. We would only learn too late, like when coming home to a dead plant, that this is an oversimplified explanation. Plants need the right amount of light, temperature, humidity, and soil moisture to thrive, and that’s not even considering how different plants will have different requirements.

Rather than overwhelming us poor humans with all that data, the LeafyPod simplifies life by utilizing a product that thrives on data: AI. Based on the plant you selected to grow, the smart indoor planter will learn how the plant responds to water, evaluate the quality of the soil, and automatically water the plant as needed to keep it in top condition. All you need to do is to refill the reservoir every month or so.

It might almost feel like you’ve totally automated the act of growing a plant, which in some sense, also takes out the joy from the activity, but there are still some things you do need to do by hand. You’ll need to move the plant to a better-lit area when it needs lighting since it doesn’t come with its own grow light. You’ll also have to replace the filter every few months, but as you might have guessed, the LeafyPod planter will be the one to tell you when to do all these.

The AI-powered LeafyPod is definitely a powerful tool that takes out the drudgery of growing plants indoors, but you might also want to ask yourself first why you’re trying to grow them in the first place. If all you want is an easy way to have beautiful living foliage or fresh herbs at home, then this indoor planter might be right for you. If, on the other hand, you actually want to experience the adventure of growing plants, this could just be a stepping stone in getting you started on a more earnest learning process.

]]>

You walk into CES and you’ll probably see more chips, gadgets, microprocessors, and tech you’ve ever seen in your life. Amidst this forest of plastic, metal, and silicone, I managed to spot a bit of greenery and obviously I stopped dead in my tracks. You see, I’m a bit of a gardener myself, having grown tomatoes, lemons, basil, mint, sunflowers, bell peppers, and now even peas and chillis. I recently invested in a hydroponic tower, that grows plants without soil, instead using only water. The obvious benefit of a hydroponic tower is that it’s compact, efficient, fast, and resists plant infections because bugs only thrive in soil.

On the floor at CES I saw the Gardyn, a ‘hybridponic’ tower that also adds AI to the mix, giving you a plant tower that’s smart enough to grow itself rather than involving you with the nitty-gritty details. Powered by two cameras that point directly at the plants while they grow, the Gardyn automatically adjusts lighting and water distribution to its plants, leveraging the power of artificial intelligence to essentially ‘hack’ nature into growing at its fastest pace. What you’re then left with is a kitchen garden that consistently provides you with fresh produce, while you essentially do the bare minimum.

Designer: Gardyn

The Gardyn is almost like your standard hydroponic tower. It comes with a water reservoir at the bottom, and a vertical channel that houses the plants. Water travels from the bottom to the top, raining down on the pods which contain the seeds. Eventually, once the plant grows, the roots get watered occasionally, and nutrients in the water help the plant grow without any soil. The Gardyn comes with sunlight-mimicking light towers too, which switch on or off automatically in line with the circadian rhythm. A camera on the light rod monitors the plants 24*7, getting a sense of how the plants are doing while informing the AI of the plants’ needs and their progress.

Kelby, the Gardyn’s AI assistant, watches over your plants with more dedication than most babysitters. Through a built-in camera and sensors, Kelby knows exactly when to water, how to distribute nutrients, and even which plants are thriving or struggling. My favorite detail? It compiles a time-lapse of your plants growing, which feels like a small nod to the magic of nature even as technology orchestrates the whole thing.

Here’s where things truly get interesting. The Gardyn’s ‘hybridponic’ tower uses machine learning to develop faster ways to grow better plants, but it doesn’t do so in an isolated manner. It works alongside thousands of other Gardyn devices, operating like a hive mind where each machine shares information to help all the Gardyn devices perform better. If a certain watering schedule benefits Kale more, the camera will record the evidence and that Gardyn will ‘teach’ other Gardyns to water kale in the most hyper-optimized way.

What you essentially have to do is just add these readymade pods into your Gardyn. Gardyn provides pre-seeded pods called yCubes, which eliminate the fiddly, messy step of sprouting seedlings elsewhere. If you’ve ever wrestled with rock wool and seed trays, this feels like skipping to dessert without eating your vegetables. Just plug the pods into the Gardyn, fill the water tank, and let the system do its thing. A unique code allows the Gardyn to know which seeds are inside the pod, so the tower essentially has a record of what plants you’re growing. The machine circulates water at just the right intervals, using 95% less than traditional gardening. Yes, you still have to refill the tank now and then, but that’s about as demanding as it gets.

The yCubes come in multiple packs, and you can simply install them into the Gardyn when you want to grow a new plant. Some plants (like spinach for example) have a finite life, which means they either die or become unsuitable for consumption. When your plant reaches that stage, all you do is pull the old yCube out and add a new one. The Gardyn identifies that a new pod has been added to the tower and optimizes light and watering to the tower accordingly.

The beauty of this device lies in two things – firstly, seeing an AI basically turn into an expert horticulturist and farmer, growing your own kitchen garden for you, and secondly, having access to an app that doesn’t just give you all the info you need, but also lets you view a time-lapse of your garden, seeing plants grow from saplings to proper flora in a 10-second clip that’s perfect for the ‘gram.

Gardyn’s team also really emphasized how having and AI basically grow your produce for you really helps you understand how good vegetables can taste. Apparently, the apple you eat today was probably harvested months ago and stored in a deep freezer so it could be transported across the globe. Unless you buy food from a farmer’s market, the food you’re buying is easily weeks or months old, and are made to artificially ripen using certain chemicals. When you grow your food AT HOME, you’re getting the freshest produce ever, and that can have a remarkable effect not just on cost, but also on taste. Lettuce tastes better, tomatoes are sweeter, jalapenos tangier, etc.

And all this can basically exist in a tiny area, giving you an entire farm in the floor-space of essentially a doormat. The Gardyn is compact and vertical, taking up just two square feet of floor space, but it can grow up to 30 plants—plenty for herbs, greens, or even bigger crops like tomatoes and eggplants. For smaller households or limited spaces, there’s a version with fewer slots. Either way, you’re growing a jungle in a corner. A jungle that’s self-growing, self-sustaining, and human-nourishing!

CES 2025 felt less like a tech showcase and more like stepping into the future of home living. Amid the glittering displays of flying cars and AI-powered everything, it was Roborock’s understated booth that drew the crowds. Not with flashy gimmicks, but with a vision so tangible you could almost feel your Saturday cleaning routine shrinking into irrelevance. Three flagship products—each redefining what it means to clean smarter, not harder—stood at the heart of their exhibit, ready to turn skeptics into believers.

Roborock’s 2025 lineup doesn’t just represent how far smart home tech has come, but also how human it can feel. From the Saros Z70’s robotic arm meticulously tidying up clutter to the ultra-slim Saros 10 navigating impossibly tight spaces, and the F25 Series turning wet-dry cleaning into an art form, every device seemed designed to solve the little frustrations we’d given up on. These weren’t just cleaning tools; they were partners in the pursuit of an effortlessly maintained home. Each product brought its own story, its own personality to the mix, and together, they painted a picture of a future where cleaning is no longer a chore—it’s just handled.

Designer: Roborock

Roborock Saros Z70: World’s First Vacuum With A Robot Arm Picks Up Clothes, Toys, Etc.

Cleaning might be one of the most mundane parts of life, but Roborock’s Saros Z70 is here to shake that up—literally, with its robotic arm. Yes, a robot vacuum with an arm that unfolds, twists, and reaches to pick up everything from socks to tiny toys. It’s hard not to imagine this as the step we’ve all been waiting for, closing the loop on the age-old challenge of not just vacuuming but tidying.

The OmniGrip arm is the star here, and it’s not shy about stealing the spotlight. With five axes of motion, it approaches cleaning with the finesse of a butler. During its initial run, the Z70 scouts the landscape, tagging small items for retrieval later. By the second pass, it’s lifting, sorting, and cleaning previously inaccessible areas. And no, it’s not blindly grabbing—it’s guided by sensors, cameras, and even an LED, ensuring everything is handled with care and precision.

If the arm wasn’t enough, the Z70 doubles down with some of the smartest navigation we’ve seen. Powered by dual-light 3D ToF sensors and AI-backed RGB cameras, it maps spaces with near-surgical precision. Forget just avoiding obstacles—it actively recognizes them. From cables to tiny crumbs, the Z70 reads the room like a pro. Oh, and with 22,000 Pa of suction at its disposal, nothing gets left behind.

And while the Z70 is out doing its thing, its Multifunctional Dock 4.0 keeps it ready for action. This isn’t your standard “plug it in and wait” setup—it washes mops with hot water, removes them when switching to carpet mode, and smartly estimates how much juice it needs for the next job. Add in the updated Roborock app, which lets you fine-tune everything from suction to mop schedules, and this robot starts feeling less like a machine and more like the ultimate home assistant.

Roborock Saros 10R: Precision Navigation and Powerful Cleaning in a Slim Build

The Roborock Saros 10R reimagines what a robotic vacuum can achieve with intelligent navigation at its core. Its StarSight Autonomous System 2.0 replaces the typical LiDAR towers with a blend of 3D Time-of-Flight sensors and RGB cameras powered by AI. The result? An ultra-precise 3D mapping system that detects up to 108 types of obstacles. From toys to tangled cables, the Saros 10R doesn’t just avoid them—it understands them, making decisions that feel almost human.

Adding to its sharp sense of spatial awareness is VertiBeam Lateral Obstacle Avoidance. By deploying a vertical laser, the Saros 10R gains a new dimension of perception. Imagine it smoothly navigating tight corners or weaving past the messiest cable setups without missing a beat. It’s the kind of tech that feels magical in action, solving everyday cleaning frustrations you didn’t think a robot could handle.

But navigation is only part of the story. With around 20,000 Pa of suction and a dual anti-tangle system, this robot isn’t just tidying up; it’s going to battle against dirt and debris. The DuoDivide Main Brush and FlexiArm Riser Side Brush ensure hair tangles are a thing of the past. Paired with dual spinning mops that lift to prevent dirt streaks, the Saros 10R delivers a spotless finish whether it’s tackling carpets or hardwood floors.

Supporting all this power is the Multifunctional Dock 4.0, a base station that goes above and beyond. It cleans mops with hot water, detaches them when switching modes, and recharges the bot in just 2.5 hours. The enhanced Roborock app takes the experience further, letting you customize routes, suction power, and even cleaning schedules. From precise navigation to spotless floors, the Saros 10R feels less like a machine and more like a cleaning virtuoso.

Roborock Saros 10: Smart, Superior, Sleek Robot Vacuum That Can Clean Hard-to-reach Spaces

Low furniture and tight spaces used to be the final frontier for robot vacuums. The Roborock Saros 10, with its RetractSense Navigation System, has decided that’s no longer the case. By tucking its LiDAR sensor down and slipping effortlessly under low-clearance spots, it maps and cleans places most robots can’t even see. Add a wide-angle view and a knack for precision, and this robot feels like it’s navigating with a sixth sense.

It doesn’t just navigate—it perceives. With Reactive AI 3.0, the Saros 10 combines RGB cameras, structured light, and lateral sensors to detect obstacles with uncanny accuracy. It knows when to veer around that messy pile of cords or dance around irregular furniture legs, all without slowing down. The VertiBeam system? That’s its secret sauce, letting it see vertically and avoid bumps while gliding through complex environments.

Cleaning power is where things get serious. A staggering 22,000 Pa of suction handles carpets, corners, and crevices like a pro. Stains don’t stand a chance against the VibraRise 4.0 mopping system, which uses dual sonic vibrations and edge-specific mop lifts to leave floors gleaming. Hair tangles? Not here, thanks to dual anti-tangle brushes that channel debris straight into the bin without breaking a sweat.

The RockDock Ultra 2.0 ties it all together. It’s not just a charging station—it washes mops with hot water, detaches them when needed, and recharges the robot intelligently. And with Roborock’s app, you’re in control of everything: cleaning routes, schedules, suction levels, and more. The Saros 10 doesn’t just fit into your routine—it makes your home feel effortlessly maintained.

Roborock F25 Series: Smart, Powerful Wet/Dry Cleaning for Every Corner of Your Home

The Roborock F25 Series brings wet and dry cleaning to a whole new level of convenience. With up to 20,000 Pa suction and 450 cleaning strokes per minute, it’s designed to tackle messes in a single sweep. Certified for maternal and infant floor cleaning, its 99.9% bacteria removal rate ensures you can trust it with the dirtiest, stickiest floors. From stains to dust, the F25 is built to leave nothing behind.

It doesn’t stop at cleaning power. Equipped with JawScrapers technology, the F25 prevents hair tangles while delivering a streak-free shine. Shark-tooth blades on the roller handle hair with ease, and a constant-pressure scraper keeps everything spotless. The result? Zero tangles and SGS-certified anti-tangle performance, so maintenance is as effortless as the cleaning itself.

Slim yet sturdy, the F25 maneuvers gracefully with SlideTech 2.0. At just 12.5 cm tall, it glides under furniture and hugs edges with millimeter precision. Whether it’s tilting to reach tight spots or swiveling around obstacles, the dual brushless motors respond instantly, keeping movement smooth. Paired with its compact water tank and 70° swivel design, the F25 is built for tight spaces and tricky corners.

Hygiene is a priority, too, with self-cleaning and drying rollers that use 90°C hot air to finish drying in just five minutes. Smart sensors handle detergent dispensing and adapt to dirt levels in real-time. Voice alerts and app integration make it even easier, giving you updates and customization options at your fingertips. The F25 doesn’t just clean—it makes cleaning smarter, faster, and more intuitive.

Plantaform lets you grow plants indoor hassle-free and eco-friendly

]]>

I’ve never had the desire to have an indoor garden or a garden of any kind because I’m too lazy to take care of anything and also anything I touch actually dies. But sometimes when I see my friends who can harvest their own herbs and vegetables, I get a little jealous. Now if there only was a way that I can keep a couple of plants alive that I can use for my kitchen while still being a lazy, low-maintenance person.

Designer: Plantaform

The Plantafrom Smart Indoor Garden might just be the answer to my problem as it employs fogponics technology. The creators guarantee that this transformative way of growing food indoors is easy to use and maintain. Fogponics is a more water-efficient way of raising plants indoors compared to other systems like aeroponics or hydroponics and even traditional gardening. It’s also supposed to develop roots faster and produce yields faster since it delivers water and nutrients directly to plant roots through an ultra-fine mist.

Plantaform is an egg-shaped device that has a fully automated lighting and nutrient and water delivery. It also has a custom LED system that is able to mimic natural sunlight so plants can grow regardless of the season. The plant pods are also designed to be soil-free so there’s no messy digging around. The system uses non-GMO seeds and is pesticide-free. You can also connect it to the app that can help you from setup to maintenance to harvesting.

The device itself is minimalist in design and is small enough to fit in a small table or on your kitchen counter. You can choose between white or black. They say even if you don’t have any experience in planting or if you’re like me that has a black thumb, you’ll still be able to grow things in this indoor garden system.

AquaSense 2 Ultra represents a new benchmark in automated pool maintenance. It fuses HybridSense AI Pool Mapping with a sophisticated combination of AI cameras, ultrasonic sensors, and infrared detection that adapt to even the most intricate pool designs. This multi-sensor strategy collects real-time information about depth changes and obstacle placement, allowing AquaSense 2 Ultra to plan a cleaning path that conserves energy without missing a spot. Pool owners benefit from an intelligent process that reduces the need for repeated passes or manual readjustments.

Designer: Beatbot

Part of what makes the AquaSense 2 Ultra so effective is the natural synergy between hardware and software. It perceives small objects floating on the surface and more substantial debris lurking along the floor with a level of clarity typically absent from traditional robotic cleaners. This set-it-and-forget-it concept appeals to busy homeowners who want a seamless cleaning solution that does not require constant intervention. By mapping the pool with fine detail, it also recognizes multi-level platforms and tricky corners that generic systems might skip.

The presence of an industry-first 5-in-1 cleaning system offers more than simple vacuuming. AquaSense 2 Ultra tackles the water surface, waterline, walls, floors, and the water itself in a single, cohesive sweep. This design cuts out the hassle of coordinating multiple tools for different areas. Dual-side brushes and roller brushes work in tandem to dislodge dirt, while the ClearWater Clarification System dispatches an eco-friendly clarifier that binds oils and tiny particles into clumps for easier filtration.

Its user-centric features enhance pool care to a new standard. By bringing advanced technology into a straightforward package, the AquaSense 2 Ultra changes the conversation around robotic cleaners. With each cycle, it blends practical benefits—like time savings and thorough coverage—with the ease of integrated app controls and scheduling. This emphasis on efficiency, convenience, and adaptability sets the AquaSense brand apart from the average cleaner.

Design/Aesthetics

The AquaSense 2 Ultra shows off a sleek profile that complements both modern and traditional poolscapes. Its exterior casing has smooth edges that contour gracefully, giving it a streamlined presence whether it is on the pool deck or submerged in water. The positioning of the AI cameras and infrared sensors is subtly executed so the device does not appear cluttered or overly mechanical. This balance between function and form means it can handle demanding tasks without looking bulky or out of place.

Design choices also reflect a focus on durability. Materials that resist corrosion and withstand exposure to pool chemicals form the foundation of the cleaner. The dual-side brushes and roller brushes are strategically aligned to create symmetry, turning a potentially messy arrangement of moving parts into a visually coherent pattern. Each design element highlights the AquaSense 2 Ultra’s dual role as both a high-performance appliance and a visually refined addition to the pool environment.

Simplicity rules the overall aesthetic, avoiding excessive curves or decorations while focusing on optimal performance. The device’s moderate height and low center of gravity lend stability as it moves around walls and floors. Even the handles for lifting or removing the unit are integrated with a sense of fluidity, so they don’t interrupt the smooth silhouette when the cleaner is operating.

The AquaSense approach to style respects the fact that modern homeowners prize both functionality and tasteful presentation. By incorporating a cohesive design language, the AquaSense 2 Ultra fits neatly into a setting that values subtlety. Its thoughtful execution gives the product a tech-forward vibe without overwhelming the pool’s natural appeal.

Ergonomics

AquaSense 2 Ultra addresses everyday user challenges through ergonomic details that can be immediately appreciated. Retrieving a water-filled cleaner from the bottom of the pool is often an unpleasant chore, so the AquaSense solution includes a SmartDrain surface parking system. Once the cleaning run finishes or battery power gets low, the cleaner floats to the pool’s edge through controlled buoyancy, making it easier to grab without straining your back.

The companion app also adds a layer of ergonomic convenience by placing real-time navigation in the palm of your hand. If you spot pockets of leaves or debris, you can steer the AquaSense 2 Ultra precisely where it needs to go. This feature aids those who like to be hands-on in their cleaning approach while still allowing the device to operate on its own when desired. The user-friendly interface, compatible with both iOS and Android, offers a clear view of cleaning progress, scheduling, and stored cleaning records.

Handling the AquaSense 2 Ultra outside the pool is made smoother by a compact, streamlined body that stays balanced when lifted. Unlike conventional cleaners with bulky shapes that twist awkwardly, this device keeps a low profile. The arrangement of the brushes and wheels is designed to prevent tangling, so there’s minimal fuss when the machine is placed on the deck or stored away between uses.

Even routine tasks like removing the filter or checking the brushes have been simplified. AquaSense 2 Ultra’s housing opens with little effort and requires no specialized tools. This attention to detail ensures pool owners spend less time wrestling with the product and more time enjoying the benefits of a consistently clean swimming space.

Performance

AquaSense 2 Ultra leverages HybridSense AI Pool Mapping to deliver precision cleaning. Its intelligent sensors, including AI cameras, ultrasonic mapping, and infrared detection, collaborate to map the pool environment comprehensively. This ensures that obstacles like ladders and steps are identified while debris, such as leaves and twigs, is effectively targeted. By analyzing its surroundings in real-time, the AquaSense 2 Ultra avoids wasted energy on empty passes and focuses solely on areas needing attention.

The 5-in-1 cleaning system transforms pool maintenance by addressing waterline scrubbing, wall cleaning, and water clarification in a single cycle. Equipped with dual-side brushes and high-traction wheels, the AquaSense 2 Ultra easily tackles curved corners and vertical surfaces. The powerful 5,500 GPH suction system efficiently eliminates sediment and algae that collect in typically hard-to-reach spots like pool steps and corners, ensuring comprehensive cleaning.

The AquaSense 2 Ultra’s indispensable debris-detection capabilities classify waste types, such as clusters of leaves near drains or smaller particles dispersed across the floor. The cleaner then optimizes its route to reduce unnecessary effort. This significantly improves cleaning efficiency and minimizes wear and tear on the unit. Pools with intricate designs or features like infinity edges particularly benefit from its meticulous N-shaped cleaning pattern.

AquaSense Pro with 2 Ultra and iSkim

Adaptability plays a pivotal role in the device’s performance. After a storm, the AquaSense 2 Ultra recalibrates its path to handle floating debris and windblown dirt, while its regular over-the-air updates ensure it stays equipped to tackle evolving cleaning challenges. For seasonal pool maintenance, it excels at collecting finer particles, such as pollen or dust, which other cleaners often miss.

The app integration extends its functionality even further. Owners can direct the cleaner to focus on specific trouble spots—for instance, the aftermath of a pool party—while still benefiting from its autonomous daily cleaning mode. This feature empowers users who prefer a hands-on approach without compromising the unit’s ability to manage the pool independently when desired.

The AquaSense 2 Ultra impresses with its consistent and reliable performance, delivering dependable results every day. Be it routine cleaning or tackling one-off messes, its high-efficiency motor and real-time path adjustments guarantee reliable results. Pools that experience frequent use, whether for recreation or exercise, remain inviting and hygienic with minimal effort from the owner.

Ultimately, the AquaSense 2 Ultra’s intelligent design merges practicality with advanced technology. It transforms pool cleaning from a labor-intensive task into a seamless experience, ensuring pristine swimming conditions while saving time and energy.

Sustainability

AquaSense 2 Ultra champions an eco-friendly philosophy by weaving sustainable practices directly into its design. The ClearWater Clarification System dispenses an earth-conscious clarifier that gathers oils and microscopic particles into clumps for easier filtration. This approach lowers chemical usage, so owners can maintain cleaner water without constantly over-treating it with synthetic agents. Over time, this method can reduce dependence on harsh cleansers, creating a gentler environment for swimmers and the surrounding ecosystem.

The efficiency of HybridSense AI Pool Mapping also contributes to sustainability. Since the AquaSense 2 Ultra modifies its route to avoid unnecessary retracing, it completes each pass with minimal energy expenditure. Fewer hours spent circulating in the pool mean smaller power bills and less strain on the battery over the product’s lifetime. This optimized approach delivers cost savings for the owner and a reduced carbon footprint for the planet.

Longevity and adaptability also tie into this ecological perspective. Regular over-the-air updates keep the AquaSense 2 Ultra at the forefront of technology, eliminating the need to replace hardware just to access new features. As the software evolves, it refines how the robot cleans, boosting overall effectiveness without generating more waste. By proactively extending its functionality, the Beatbot brand underscores its commitment to a sustainable future.

Even the packaging and build materials echo this commitment. Durable plastics and rust-resistant alloys ensure that the cleaner isn’t disposable; it is a long-term investment that withstands chlorine, sun exposure, and frequent use. By combining eco-conscious engineering with a robust maintenance model, the AquaSense 2 Ultra proves that performance and sustainability can exist in tandem.

Value and Conclusion

The AquaSense 2 Ultra goes beyond the basic task of vacuuming debris and emerges as a genuinely advanced solution for total pool maintenance. Through its HybridSense AI Pool Mapping and multi-sensor integration, it goes beyond single-method navigation, delivering a flexible cleaning path that precisely fits each pool’s layout. The device tackles a broad spectrum of duties, from surface skimming to wall scrubbing and water clarification, sparing owners the burden of juggling multiple tools or carrying out manual brushing.

A dedicated app enhances ease of use by providing real-time navigation, scheduling, and progress tracking. You can guide the AquaSense 2 Ultra through stubborn patches of floating debris or let it function autonomously during daily maintenance cycles. Smart features like one-click parking and automatic surface floatation also reduce the physical strain associated with retrieving the unit when its job is done.

By incorporating an eco-friendly clarifier and adaptive route planning, the AquaSense 2 Ultra emphasizes thoughtful design that conserves resources. Its hardware is built to last, and its software receives updates that expand debris recognition, ensuring the device remains relevant and effective over time. This future-proof angle strengthens the investment, as owners benefit from constant improvements without replacing the core machine.

Ultimately, AquaSense 2 Ultra merges performance, convenience, and sustainability into a single package that redefines what a pool cleaner can be. The combination of hybrid mapping, robust scrubbing power, and streamlined app controls delivers a product that meets the expectations of discerning pool owners. It is a worthy choice for anyone wanting to devote less time to manual maintenance and more time to actually enjoying their pool.

As someone who needs to go to the doctor regularly, I still find it a hassle to do so for various reasons. Of course health should be a priority but I sometimes wish there was an easier way to regularly check how I’m doing without all the hassle of setting up an appointment, taking a leave from work, and going through all kinds of tests.

Designer: Witings

Withings has come up with a concept for something that can give you “deep health screening” in case you can’t go to the doctor at the moment. Omnia is still a conceptual product for now but it is an exciting development that they’re working on. It looks at the future of personal health monitoring, kind of like what we imagine when watching sci-fi movies and TV shows.

The concept is that of a full-length mirror with a scale at the bottom that should be able to give you 360-deep health screening. It is able to check things like ECG, heart rate, other heart health specs, activity tracking, vitamin analysis, muscle-to-fat ration, weight trends, and even sleep quality analysis. All you have to do is step on the scale with the frequency you want, and it should be able to give you in-depth data on your health. And it comes with an AI that will talk back to you and tell you all about what’s wrong with your health and your body.

Of course, you would need to have connected Withings devices like watches, body scan, and BPM Connect, and 3rd party sources so the device can give you more detailed readings. This concept was tailor-fit for the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas so we may see some proof of concept there to get more details about how it will work exactly.

If you want a taste of what tech to expect in the new year, there’s no better place to be at than CES. The problem, however, is that CES is massive, and is spread across three large venues. Covering any ground at CES is a major task, which is why events like CES Unveiled are perfect grounds for exploring everything new that the tech world has to offer. CES Unveiled is much smaller than the main event, and gets held usually a day earlier. This is where tech brands and winners of CES awards come to showcase their stuff in a smaller venue before the big show.

We attended CES Unveiled 2025 and while the show was filled with a lot of interesting (and some slightly stale) tech, three things stood out. AI could be found practically in every single corner of Unveiled; Robots are becoming more useful and more prevalent thank to AI; Smart Glasses are also picking up speed thanks to LLMs and AI; and finally, it seems like ages ago that I saw a TV at CES Unveiled because projectors are becoming more and more popular.

AI is Everywhere

SkyTed.io Headset

We’re definitely in an AI bubble because you’ll find AI features everywhere. Sure, AI translators and image recognition is a pretty good way to use AI – but we’re now seeing AI built into products that probably didn’t need it to begin with. LLMs are becoming increasingly popular as a trend as well as a feature, being found in all products from earbuds to massive robots.

It’s difficult to tell whether the AI bubble will burst any time soon, but here’s something worth thinking about – AI is expensive, and companies will probably either A. Pass that expense onto the consumer, or B. Absorb the expense and make up the losses by harvesting data. However, there are areas where AI’s actually pretty impressive, like SkyTed’s headset, which uses a very powerful dual-direction microphone and AI noise-reduction to let you effectively whisper in a crowded room and have your voice seamlessly heard clearly on the other side.

Robots aren’t going anywhere

Enchanted Tools Robot

I have a theory. I’ve attended CES in both Vegas as well as CES Asia in Shanghai, and the main difference between them is the presence of robots. Americans are traditionally very hostile to robots because of pop culture demonizing them, like with Terminator, Transformers, etc. The east, on the other hand, has always seen robots as fun companions or superheroes, and it’s taken decades for the two cultures to come to a consensus – That robots are useful. Potentially scary, but useful.

CES Unveiled had its fair share of robots – some utilitarian, some cute. These robots have been around for ages, but they’re now powered by AI that helps them be more human by interacting with natural language as well as contextual memory.

Meta may have revived the Smart Glass trend

Mustard Smart Glasses

In all honesty, wearing the Meta Ray-Bans 2 to CES was an absolute godsend… but wearing it around exhibitors exhibiting similar glasses was a unique experience. Most people recognized that my specs had cameras in them, but what was truly interesting was to see such ubiquitous tech around. Smart glasses became more and more popular this CES, with specs like heads-up displays, XR displays, and even AI-enabled world-scanning.

Google launched the Google Glass back in 2013, and it’s safe to say that it’s taken nearly 12 years for the technology to truly become something ready for mass acceptance. Smart glasses are here, an they’re thinner and more powerful than ever before.

This Year’s Hot Take: Projectors > Televisions

Aurzen Tri-Fold Projector

Projectors are now at a point where they’re cheap, which honestly was the last frontier that they needed to conquer in their war with televisions. TVs have been the home entertainment standard for too long and I totally think it’s time they were replaced with projectors. Even a budget projector can cast a screen hundreds of inches wide, turning your entire wall into a display. Projectors are smaller than TVs too, which means you can carry them around from one room to another, or even to a backyard or your friend’s house.

We saw some pretty cool projectors including an ultra-short throw one from JMGO, and a palm-sized tri-fold one from Aurzen. My favorite, however, was a projector that could project make-up onto your face in real-time, allowing you to quickly cycle through looks.

CES officially begins on January 7th 2025, and we’re going to bring you the latest tech news from the ground. If you want to attend CES 2025, here’s how you can. Or follow Yanko Design’s CES coverage for more information.
